Celebrating What Makes Us Great: Inside Our Group Values Awards

We see our eQS values as a core element of our inclusive culture, and in developing them we knew we wanted them to be embedded into everyday life at eQS.
A graphic showing the icons for our five group values. Equity is represented by a hexagon and a circle interlinked. Purpose is illustrated by an arrow pointing to the top of a circle. Pride is illustrated by a heart inside a shield. Courage is illustrated by a phoenix. Integrity is illustrated by a flower icon.

Equity, Purpose, Pride, Integrity and Courage are the five values that guide us in our shared mission as employees at eQSFor any company, values are meant to be the soul of the organisation, and help cultivate a positive working culture. We see our eQS values as a core element of our inclusive culture, and in developing them we knew we wanted them to be embedded into everyday life at eQSThis meant finding engaging ways to bring them to life, make them relevant to people’s roles and celebrate the impact our values have on our people and our customers. One of the highlights in our internal communications calendar for our people is our eQS Group Values Awards ceremony.

Connecting a Nationwide Team Through Shared Values

To emphasise the importance of our group values, every year we hold an eQS Group Values Awards ceremony. This is the second year it’s taken place, and we are excited about how this might grow in the coming years (find out what happened at our first Group Values Awards here).

It’s important our people are aware of the group values all year round, not just for the few weeks of the year that we talk about the ceremony. Therefore, we have nominations for our awards open all year round. This means our people can nominate a colleague as soon as they witness them living one of our group values rather than having to remember examples that have taken place over the last 12 months. Throughout the year, we also post ‘staff spotlights’ in our all-staff chat channel, showcasing prior year winners’ stories, as well as branded values graphics and regular reminders to make a nomination.

With our staff being located as far north as Newcastle and as far south as Plymouth we held the eQS Group Values Awards ceremony online to ensure everyone felt included. Everyone got into the spirit of the event with the team congratulating the winners in the chat and the screen filling with the applause emoji when the winners were announced.

From Teasers to Trophies: Crafting the Perfect Awards Hype

Like any good awards ceremony there was plenty of hype in the lead up to the event. The week before the event, the nominations for each category were announced.

We also wanted to think about how we could build on the success of the previous year’s awards. This year, every nominated member of staff received a letter from our senior leadership team which also included all of their nominations, as well as a group values branded notepad as a keepsake.

All winners received a trophy. We loved the trophy idea so much, we decided to also give all of last year’s winners a trophy too. We fully expect these trophies to become as iconic as an Oscar or a Bafta in years to come.

More Nominations, More Stars, More Celebration

This year there were 48 nominations which was an increase on the previous year. This resulted in over a third of the total staff receiving a nomination. Below is a snapshot of some of these 48 nominations.

We’ve removed names to protect our team’s privacy.

"This person is the backbone of our team, tirelessly tackling the sometimes thankless tasks that keep our operations running smoothly. Whether it's solving unexpected issues, performing essential maintenance, or anticipating and resolving potential challenges, they never hesitates to step up, often sacrificing their weekends to ensure everything is in top condition. Their dedication to the bigger picture, even in the unseen, behind-the-scenes work, exemplifies our shared purpose. Their selfless contributions help create a dependable and resilient foundation for everyone at EQS, making them incredibly deserving of this award."
Purpose nomination
"This person is a great communicator with their team and with the wider business. Regardless of the challenges of their role they remain calm under pressure, and with the relentless challenges they face with both upgrading our IT and with our Invate client they have always shown proper leadership, and is not afraid to take responsibility for any mistakes made in the team, or by themselves. They have a great working relationship with all their team and this is due to their ability to work with them rather them work for him but they retain the ability to make the tough decisions without fear or favour, and communicates the decisions in an open and frank manner. "
Integrity nomination
"They are such a nice person. Since they first started with the company, they have been nothing but kind and respectful to me and everyone who they speak to. There has been numerous times I have witnessed them assist other colleagues who are struggling and who need help moving equipment. They don't wait to be asked, they just does it. They take pride in their work and is an asset to the team they are on."
Pride nomination

Here’s our winning stories:

This person is always considerate of eQS' biggest asset - our people. This person takes pride and care in ensuring all people related activities are equitable and inclusive. Their work on relaunching The Unity Forum, was a big project that has ensured that all people across the group have an inclusive platform where their voice can be heard.
This person never fails to make me laugh. They bring light to the group and show how much their work means to them. I think everyone needs a person like this in their workplace because they definitely made my experience amazing!
This person's commitment to support not only the students and consultants but the staff as well goes above and beyond the original job title. Their dedication to improving every process to make it as efficient to us as possible, as well as sitting with us to go through the details and make sure that it works for everyone, helps immensely.
This person has been an absolute delight to work with. They are always looking to improve how they work and are very keen learners. They are also great team players and I really value their commitment to everything they do. They are very kind people who will go the extra mile to help and nothing is too much trouble for them.
This person is sincere, diligent, and has a very positive attitude. This person cares about his colleagues and always asks how I am, whether they can help with anything etc. This person has a glass more than half full approach and is always willing to help me when needed. The world is a better place with people like this person in it.

This year’s eQS Group Values Awards highlighted the impact of living our values in everyday work. Every nomination, every recognition, and every celebration reminds us that our values are more than words – they guide how we work, collaborate, and support each other across the company. Going forward, we know that recognising and celebrating those who live our values will remain central to our culture and the driving force behind our impact.
