Key accountabilities and responsibilities  

The Role

In this role you will have a close working relationship with the marketing team across all our companies. You’ll be reporting into our Group Graphic Designer.

Graphic design responsibilities for our Group has three distinct areas of focus: Group internal and external communications, Disability Support brands and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) brands.

As Junior Graphic Designer you will help to create and improve the messaging and connection between our brands and customers, including our internal customers, our People. We see our design content focusing more on producing video content, so this will form a core part of the role. Your opinion matters, so we’ll love it if you come to management with ideas on how we can improve design aspects.

We offer a hybrid working model; however you will be required to be in the office for your induction period. You will also be required to be in the office on some days, the ability to travel to our Hebburn office is therefore required.

Key responsibilities

• Video filming and editing.
• Create digital animation and motion graphics,
• Be comfortable with story boarding and storytelling.
• Design marketing collateral for websites and other digital assets including emails, social media, blogs, and some print materials.
• Working to a clear brief and meeting deadlines, as well as communicating upwards if deadlines cannot be met due to project clashes.
• Work collaboratively within the marketing team and with the wider team to ensure brand consistency across all media.
• Audio file editing.
• Presenting proposed design concepts to the wider team.
• Proficient in creative tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design) and digital animation skills (e.g. After Effects, Final Cut).
• Proactively seeking opportunities to learn and develop new design skills including accessible and inclusive design.
• Proactively sharing design inspiration from the wider industry with the marketing team to support continuous design innovation.

Essential skills and experience

• Experience of the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong skills with Adobe Illustrator.
• Skills with After Effects & Premier Pro (motion graphics and video editing).
• Skills in InDesign and Photoshop desirable.
• Knowledge of print processes (e.g. understanding of CMYK and Pantones) – for merchandise.
• Basic photography/videography skills – will be required for events, staff and office shoots.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite – templates.
• Skills backed up by design portfolio – be good to see examples of designs that have been or could be used in real life or practical situations for a product, campaign, for websites etc.
